Not all wisdom teeth need to be removed. If they are well-aligned, functional and are accessible for cleaning, they can be kept. If they are impacted and out of alignment, orthodontic braces can be employed to move them into proper alignment. In order to move impacted teeth, an orthodontic bracket will have to be attached to the crown of the tooth. This can be done if the tooth is sufficiently erupted. If not, then gum surgery will be required to expose the crown of the tooth for a bracket to be glued on. Invisalign and plastic aligners will not be suitable for the task of dis-impacting impacted wisdom teeth because they do not give a good grip on the wisdom tooth.
