Dr David Lee
Dr. David Lee has been practising orthodontics in Singapore for over 30 years, in various multi-disciplinary practice settings, in collaboration with other specialists in the disciplines of paedodontics, endodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, and oral and maxillo-facial surgery. He obtained a Public Service Commission scholarship, and graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1982. He then underwent specialist training in orthodontics at the University of Adelaide, graduating with a Masters in Dental Surgery degree in 1990.
His research interests in the earlier years included investigating the blood vessels in the gums. An adequate blood supply is very important in wound healing, tooth eruption, and for the gums to fight against infection, and is essential for healthy orthodontic tooth movement. Inadequate blood supply results in poor healing, and slow tooth movement.
His varied interests include yoga, nutrition and sailing. His greatest joy is in helping people overcome their fears of gagging, needles, drills, or dentists, with his gentle, patient, caring manner.
He is a Fellow of the World Federation of Orthodontists, and a certified Invisalign and eCLigner provider. He was the President of the Association of Orthodontists (Singapore)(1999-2001), and was active as Singapore’s representative at the Asia Pacific Orthodontic Society (1998-2008), participating actively in numerous conferences all over the world. He was a Member of the American Association of Orthodontists and the Australian Society of Orthodontists for many years.
